Dear all families,
Today has been a great end to a fantastic week with various book characters joining us at school today. As I have walked round I have seen: the crayons from 'The Day the Crayons Quit', the Artful Dodger from Oliver Twist, Dorothy from The Wizard of Oz, Timmy the Dog from The Famous Five and there are several Where's Wally who keep hiding. I have also overheard conversations about favourite books between the children and the teachers all swapped classes this afternoon, so they could read a story to a different class.
During the week, Reception and Year 1 were visited by Alex Brooks, the author of Why, Oh Why, Am I a Crocodile? Year 2&6 took part in a Shakespeare workshop on The Tempest. Sam Copeland visited Years 2, 3, 4&5. I would like to say a huge thank you to Mr Jones and our wonderful PTA for all the hard work they have put in to organising a wonderful week for all our children.
Thank you to our community for the continued support you have shown our teachers on Thursday. The issues they are striking over are extremely important to all in education around pay and conditions. I would also like to thank all teachers for the advanced warning about whether they were going to strike or not. The next strike dates are 15th and 16th March. I will update you on 10th March with further information.
As always, please do grab me on the gate or email me if you have any questions or would like a chat. Nothing is too small. I am very keen that we have open lines of communication between the school and parents. Your feedback is extremely valuable and helpful to move forwards.
Wishing you a wonderful weekend.
Frances
