Reception News
Find out what Reception have been up to here!
This week in Reception we have been continuing our ‘All about me’ Topic work by looking at the life cycle of human beings. The children have ordered the life cycle and discussed where they would be. In our Creation Station, we have made our faces using paper plates and discussed what makes us unique. We discussed diversity further by painting our handprints as part of a whole school display. The children are really enjoying learning their new sounds (t, i, n, p) in our Phonics sessions and they are beginning to apply their new knowledge when writing independently. Thank you for working on their sounds and letter formation with them at home (see the phonics portal on the school website). In Maths, we have been exploring grouping. The children loved collecting autumnal objects to group in our learning garden. We also created our own sorting rules and compared amounts of objects. The children are continuing to practise writing their name independently during Freeflow, we ask for you to continue to encourage this at home, especially if your child is using capital letters within their names.
