Read on to find out what has been happening in music...

Music has got off to a fantastic start this term with over 200 children receiving instrumental lessons at school in our first week back.  We also had some very accomplished performances at the Prospective Parents' Tour last Thursday - a huge well done to Austin, Flair and Fletcher for their piano playing.

Before the end of last term, we were treated to a fantastic piano performance by Flair from Year 5 during the Key Stage 1 assembly. Flair dazzled us with her expressive and accurate playing, which was enjoyed by all the children in the audience.

If your child is interested in performing at assemblies or parent tours, please email music@vineyard.richmond.sch.uk.

Year 5 music lessons

Our Year 5 musicians have been working on their own arrangement of the sea shanty Drunken Sailor. Their version includes original lyrics, two-part singing, and body percussion. This week, they enhanced their arrangement by adding instrumental harmony, learning to build and play triad chords.

To reinforce their understanding, the groups participated in a quiz at the end of the lesson, successfully identifying the correct notes for each triad on their whiteboards.
