Music performance in assembly!
A huge well done to Tanvi who performed a piece from her grade 5 repertoire on the flute during the KS1 music assembly.
Children were also given the chance to reflect on how the music made them feel and ask Tanvi questions.
Year 5
Our year 5 musicians are learning about Sea Shanty’s this term. They have been rewriting the lyrics to Drunken Sailor and performing them using various rhythms played with cups. The children really captured the spirit of the song with their own compositions. Here are some fantastic examples from the students.
Hedi - Feed him cheese and give him nightmares
Beren - Make him food for the sharks
Aryan - Feed him fish until he joins them
Alycia- Put him upside down until he goes green
Year 6
Year 6 musicians are learning about Swing music, and today they looked at what makes a swing beat so distinctive. We are now very lucky to have a full kit in the music room, which allowed the students to play the rhythms on the drums. A big well done to all the Year 6 students who played their rhythms so well.
