KS1 News
Come and find out what KS1 have been up to here!
Year 1
This week, we enjoyed identifying different fruits and vegetables in DT and chose appropriate adjectives to describe them after we had tasted each piece. Lots of us thought the lemon was very sour! We have been looking at poetry written by James Carter in English this week. Year 1 enjoyed learning one his poems and adding their own body percussion when performing their verse to the class. This week in maths we have been further consolidating our knowledge of the fact families. We even challenged ourselves to put the equals sign first in the number sentence. In history, we compared a Victorian school to our school and looked at similarities and differences. We are looking forward to learning even more in our Victorian workshop next week.

Year 2
Tasting different bread based products and a variety of toppings has been enjoyable and exciting for the children as they prepare themselves to design and create their own pizzas, very soon! The teachers were impressed as the children used words like bland, dry, sweet and juicy to describe taste. In history, it has been wonderful to see the children become more and more curious about life in the 1850’s. Looking at hospitals then and now, to think like historians and compare; hygiene, medicine, electricity and spread of diseases. In PE, gymnastics continues with balance, high knee runs and holding a dish shape. Maths has seen great success this week as we have built up to crossing tens in subtraction and addition. Can you show your grown ups how to partition and exchange?
