Read on to find out what we have been up to in Reception this week.

Reception has had such a busy week this week! On Tuesday, we went on our first school trip to Hounslow Urban Farm. The children loved it! We had 3 activities planned for the day. At the farm talk, children got to hold and stroke fluffy farm animals including: a mouse, guinea pig, duck, chicken and even a chinchilla. At the exotic talk, children got to hold and stroke a tortoise, bearded dragon, giant African land snail, stick insect, hissing cockroach, lizard and a boa constrictor! They really amazed and surprised us with how fearless and brave they were. At the end of the day, we went to an owl display; we enjoyed calling out to the owl to tell him where to fly. Ozzie the owl was very good at coming back to the lady who was looking after him, and the children ducked as he flew over their heads. In maths this week, we have been revisiting our number bond knowledge. As it was ‘World Bee Day’ on Monday, in our topic lesson, we learned about the importance of bees, what they do to help us and how we can support their existence. Very excitingly, we have released our beautiful butterflies that arrived as caterpillars when we started to care for them. We have seen the life cycle and it was a very special moment seeing them happily fly away. We are ready for half term, and to finish it off we are going to have a ‘Bug Ball’ to conclude our topic learning about ‘minibeasts’.
