Dear all families,
I hope you have all had a good week.
It's been another action packed week at school with a huge range of learning taking place from climate zones in geography, investigations about materials in science, shot-put & swimming in P.E., listening to stories in the library and creating collage art in the style of Henri Matisse. As for the staff, we have been revisiting our learning on Ebbinghaus's forgetting curve which suggests that people tend to continually halve their memory of newly learnt knowledge in a matter of days or weeks unless they actively review the learnt material. We are using this research to help us develop how we teach your children so that the know more and remember more.
In our assemblies this week Mrs Bracegirdle read the story 'Ada Twist Scientist' to help bring to life our school value 'curious'. For those who don't know Ada persistently asks question after question about the world around her - she is an extremely curious girl.
We are looking forward to inviting you in to school, so your children can show you what they have been learning this term, on 03.02.23 between 3.15 and 4.15pm.
Please try and come to the e-safety workshop, next week on Thursday. Peter Cowley has a wealth of knowledge on this ever more important topic! Book a place here.
Wishing you a lovely weekend where hopefully the sun will continue to shine.
From,
All at The Vineyard
